Norwegian (or Russian or Estonian or Latvian) Mitten Knitalong

Session III  Thursdays, June 24, July 1, 8
10am-12
Session IV  Mondays, August 9, 16, 23
6-8pm

Fee: $30
Instructor: Julie Tigges

We need mittens here in Minnesota and ethnic mitts are warm and gorgeous, but maybe you need some support and encouragement to make a pair.  We are in the midst of a publication deluge of ethnic mitten books - with so many great designs available, it's a great time to give this project a try.  Join Julie and make a pair with a traditional colorwork design of your choice.

Materials: 2-color mitten pattern - suggestions include Selbuvotter by Terri Shea, Mostly Mittens by Charlene Schurch, a Dale of Norway leaflet, Folk Mittens by Marcia Lewandowski, Latvian Mittens by Lizbeth Upitis, appropriate yarn (usually Heilo, Baby Ull or 2-ply Shetland) and double pointed needles.  You may choose your pattern and yarn in class.

Master Hand Knitting Program Knitalong

Session I  Saturdays, June 5, 12, 19
10am-12
Session II  Mondays, July 12, 19, 26
6-8pm

Fee: $30
Instructor: Roxanne Richardson

The Knitting Guild Association (TKGA) offers a number of educational correspondence courses for its members.  Two popular courses are Basics, Basics, Basics (BBB) and the three-level Master Hand Knitting(MHK) program.  This knitalong is for knitters who have purchased the course materials for BBB or MHK (through TKGA), and are looking for support and encouragement as they work on their swatches.  Help is available for learning new techniques, refining your techniques to improve your knitting, tips on finding good reference resources for the written work and the knitted swatches, as well as any other help you might need understanding the instructions.  Roxanne is currently finishing up the written work for MHK Level II and has extensive experience supporting knitters working through the program on TKGA's online forums, as well as the TKGA group on Ravelry.  Her binder of Level I swatches will be available for students.

You can find more information about TKGA and the Master Hand Knitting program (as well as the Basics, Basics, Basics course), on the TKGA website http://www.tkga.com. Instruction packets must be purchased directly from TKGA prior to the start of the class.

Materials:  light colored worsted yarn and needles for swatching.

Lace Shawl Knitalong

Thursdays, July 15, 29, August 12
10am-12

Fee: $30
Instructor: Julie Tigges

Ahhh lace - it's beautiful.  And once we plunge in, it's so very addictive.  It can be a lot of knitting with very (beautiful) fine yarn - or the very same pattern can be made with worsted weight afghan yarn.  Julie is going to make Girasole from Jared Flood, but participants can make any lace project they wish.  We will work with charts and lace stitches.

Materials: Girasole is available online through Ravlery.  Check the lace section of the store for a wide selection of lace pattern leaflets for other excellent designs.

You may register here or by calling the shop at 612 925 2454 during regular business hours.  We will refund your registration fee if you cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class OR if we can fill your seat.
We look forward to seeing you in class!
